چکیده
The design and synthesis of oligomeric ligands based on benzylic thioethers is presented together with their ability to enwrap and stabilize gold nanoparticles with diameters below 2 nm, which become--with increasing length of the oligomer--more monodisperse and stable.

Facile preparation of size-controlled gold nanoparticles using versatile and end-functionalized thioether polymer ligands.
At present, thiol ligands are generally used whenever the classical Brust-Schiffrin two-phase method is employed to prepare metal nanoparticles. In general, the previous research was mainly focused on utilizing small molecular thiol compounds or thiol polymers as the stabilizers in organic phase to obtain small sized and uniform gold nanoparticles (Au NPs). Such preparations are usually associa...

متن کاملMediator-template assembly of nanoparticles.
The ability to construct size- and shape-controllable architectures using nanoparticles as building blocks is essential for the exploration of nanoparticle-structured properties. This paper reports findings of an investigation of a mediator-template strategy for the size-controllable assembly of nanoparticles. This strategy explores multidentate thioether ligands as molecular mediators and tetr...
متن کاملRationally designed ligands that inhibit the aggregation of large gold nanoparticles in solution.
Hexadecanethiol (n-C16), 2,2-dimethylhexadecane-1-thiol (DMC16), and the multidentate thiol-based ligands 2-tetradecylpropane-1,3-dithiol (C16C2), 2-methyl-2-tetradecylpropane-1,3-dithiol (C16C3), and 1,1,1-tris(mercaptomethyl)pentadecane (t-C16) were evaluated for their ability to stabilize large gold nanoparticles (>15 nm) in organic solution. Citrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles (20-50 nm) ...
متن کاملMultidentate zwitterionic chitosan oligosaccharide modified gold nanoparticles: stability, biocompatibility and cell interactions.
Surface engineering of nanoparticles plays an essential role in their colloidal stability, biocompatibility and interaction with biosystems. In this study, a novel multidentate zwitterionic biopolymer derivative is obtained from conjugating dithiolane lipoic acid and zwitterionic acryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine to the chitosan oligosaccharide backbone. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) modified by ...
